Benchling partnership Enterprise Data Standards via the Ontology Entity Registry App for Benchling

Benchling supports ontology-backed data capture and registration natively within their products. The Ontology Entity Registry App, extends these capabilities through the addition of workflows and a governance framework. These support the development and deployment of enterprise ontologies based on public standards and incorporating internally developed standards.
Partnership overview

SciBite, from Elsevier provides expertise and software for the development and deployment of enterprise ontologies and data standards. FAIR data principles enable efficiency gains and new technologies like AI to be exploited. The cost of not implementing these principles can be huge. The most cost-effective way to apply FAIR principals is at the point of capture, providing immediate benefits in data utility and avoiding costly retrospective data cleansing. The Ontology Entity Registry App allows data captured in Benchling to be aligned to enterprise ontologies at point of capture. These enterprise ontologies being managed in SciBite’s ontology management tool, CENtree.

  • Disambiguating data at point of entry can save hours or days in data cleaning. Ambiguous data cannot always be corrected retrospectively, leading to costly and time consuming repeating of work.
